Simple Cocoa Layer Cake

1/2 cup butter
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 egg yolks
2 cups flour (all-purpose)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup Hershey's Cocoa
1 1/4 cups milk
2 egg whites

Cream butter, sugar, and vanilla, and add the well-beaten egg yolks. Sift the flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and cocoa together. Add alternately with the milk to the creamed mixture. Beat the egg whites until stiff, and fold into the chocolate batter. Pour into 2 greased and floured 8-inch cake pans, and bake in a moderate oven (350 degrees) for 30 to 35 minutes. Put together and ice with Busy Day Cocoa Icing.
