If you would like to give your time to the Heritage Museum, there are several ways that you can volunteer. The museum could not survive with out the help of its volunteers who spend their time supporting the museum. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the museum at 830.372.0962 for more information.
Ways to Volunteer
Collection Volunteer- Help the museum organize its collections by housing and storing the many objects that have come into the museum since it has opened. Other projects include conducting condition reports on specific objects and inventory.
Photograph Volunteer- Work with the Historic Photo Collection! We need volunteers to look through photos and to identify people. We also need people to help to organize the photo collection and to put photos in protective sleeves.
Docent Volunteer- The Museum always needs people to help give tours to all age groups and also to welcome visitors to the Museum on a daily basis.
Grant Writer Volunteer- Do you have experience writing grants and have some free time? The Museum needs help from people in the community that have grant writing experience for some fun and interesting projects here at the Museum.
Special Events Volunteers- We can use your help with the museum’s events and fundraisers. Tasks could include checking off names at the annual anniversary party, help take questions at exhibit openings and help setting up for a event.
Education Volunteer- We are looking of people who have a background in education and would like to write and implement activities for all age groups. The museum is looking for people who know about informal education and that enjoy dealing with children. We would also like them to help the museum to develop hands on tours and a traveling trunk program.
Carpenter Volunteer- With exhibits always changing in the museum and our always growing collection, we would like to have a volunteer carpenter that can donate their time and expertise in building things for the museum. This includes but is not limited to vitrines, platforms, exhibit walls and shelving.
